Vegetarian Chestnut Sausage Rolls

Vegetarian sausage rolls are a delicious snack that can be enjoyed all year round. From summer picnics to Christmas parties, you can’t beat a good sausage roll. A buffet favourite, no one can resist popping one on their plate.

Vegetarian vs Meat Sausage Rolls

Are they healthy? Generally speaking, the average meat filled sausage roll is not the healthiest choice. Meat sausage rolls can contain an alarming amount of fat, prompting many of us who are health-conscious to think twice about chucking a pack in the shopping trolley.

How can we make sausage rolls without the guilt? By switching out the meat for a healthier, more nutritious alternative – chestnuts.

Are Chestnuts Healthy?

Chestnuts are becoming a more prevalent ingredient in our food, with more and more of us becoming aware of the numerous health benefits. Chestnuts are low in fat and a great source of antioxidants, magnesium, zinc, and potassium. Research has shown that these vitamins and healthy qualities can help to reduce the risk of heart disease and strokes.

What are Vegetarian Sausage Rolls Made Of?

Swapping the sausage meat out for a mix of different veggies and nuts (including chestnuts of course), helps to create a delicious snack that we don’t need to feel guilty about eating! The texture and taste of our alternate ingredients are comparable to that of your average meat filled sausage roll. Of course, it’s not a 1 to 1 switch, but it’s incredibly close in flavour and feel-and completely worth it when considering the health benefits.

Our chestnuts are vacuum sealed and stored at ambient temperatures, meaning they are available to be purchased at any time of the year-not just the cooler months!
